Introduction |
| Nepal, one of the poorest nation in the world, new republic,
baby democracy without polishing political culture where
the poverty and underdeveloped nature of the population
takes the children back from the education. Poverty, underdevelopment,
illiteracy, ignorance, conservatism, backwardness and superstition
prevent the children going from school. The child labor
and the exploitation to different unwholesome activities
and sexual abuse are the frequent news and normal process
of the backward society. Nearly 3 million children engaged
in the child labor throughout nation and almost half a million
of the children are engaged in unhealthy situation out of
Nepal for the livelihood as well as being traded or exported.
The high amount of discrimination to the girls due to the
cultural reason and various social problems makes the situation
terribly awesome where the premature girl is exploited for
the sexual gratitude in and out of the country. Decade long
armed conflict has contributed in the deprivation of children
from education, absence of proper application and alternative
education system and the high number of unemployment are
other causes of the deprivation of education to majority
of children in Nepal. Recently, the news published in the
district education office of Bhaktapur, 12 kms away of the
capital of Nepal, 23% of children are out of school education.
We can imagine the situation in the rural areas of Nepal
where over 40% of children are unable to attain school.
The children above 5 years are sent to the house labor or
in the factory labor including in the high Himalayan region,
they are used as porter. “The education is the backbone
of the national development” is seems only a slogan not
in a reality. The ministry of education receives 17% of
annual budget from the government but the educational situation
is out of reach to majority of the children of Nepal. While
we are visiting in the central area of the capital city,
we can see the expensive and well equipment schools where
the well-off family, send their children for the better
education but the poor are out of it. “My Home” believe
that the education is the fundamental right of children
equally the food and nutrition with the healthcare. We are
supporting the children of slum areas, street children,
orphan, semi-orphans, abandoned, destitute, and severely
poor. The children of the rural areas where the children
are used as labor by the family due to the ignorance, and
also due to the lack of minimum amount of economic resource,
the children are deprived from education
. |
| In this regard,” My Home” has been struggling to ensure
the education rights of the most backward children from
the risk areas like the child labor, street children, rurally
affected children, where “My Home” is with utmost effort,
trying to bring the possibilities to them. We have directly
and indirectly around 200 children benefitted from our program
where some are resident in the center opened by” My Home”
and other are supported in their school and family. We have
also the procedure to bring the children in the center until
and unless the child is in better condition physically and
psychologically and provide the rehabilitation program with
their family. We believe that “the better development of
the children is happened with their biological parents or
adoptive parents than in the institution”.
